In 1974, Ron & Betty Wiseman left their pastorate in Hanford, CA to begin full-time marriage counseling and teaching at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. During the ensuing marriage classes and counseling sessions, they became aware of the forceful attack of Satan upon the Christian marriage. They saw the hurts and coverups, similar to ones they had experienced; breaking points that give way to despair, and couples abandoning their commitment to holy marriage bond. But, they knew that the Christian marriage is supposed to be a witness to the world, a representation of Jesus and His bride.

So, Enjoying Marriage began with a primary focus on weekend retreats, removing couples from their home environment limiting distractions and enabling couples to communicate more openly with one another. Eleven powerful sessions were developed that identify God's divine plan for marriage, keying in on the God-given responsibilities of husband and wife, the "Blessings of Being One," and how to understand and protect the authority structure and your own "Inner Circle". Since the very first weekend back in the mid 70's, over 200,000 couples have attended and heard the teaching, now additionally available in small group format called EM CARE Groups.

Today, other couples serve as EM Ambassadors, teaching the same sessions that were put together by the Holy Spirit in order to release healing, forgiveness, and return joy and passion to Christian marriages. In addition to the weekend seminars, "Your Marriage: Make it Great," we host an annual "Festival" that serves as vital maintenance and features inspired teaching, break-out sessions and fellowship; a celebration of what God is doing in our marriages.

Additional resources have been developed to assist pastors, Christian counselors, and provide for small group interaction (12-week sessions).
